Current Focus
Debra Dansby is Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). In her current role, she is responsible for and oversees the daily operations and overall coordination of the corporation. She directly leads the Strategic and Tactical Business Planning, Legal, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Economic Development Program Administration, and Quality and Customer Relations teams.
Professional Background
Prior to joining the MEDC, Dansby held various roles over nine years with Accident Fund Insurance Company of America. Most recently, as the Strategic Affairs Liaison, she was responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans, served as a spokesperson for the President and CEO and worked directly with the Chief Operations Officer to oversee daily operations of the business. During her nine years with Accident Fund Insurance Company of America, Dansby also had responsibility for the company's budget process, financial reporting, taxation, market research and project management.
Education
Dansby graduated from Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting. She earned her Certified Public Accounting designation with Deloitte & Touche, LLP in 1996. Her diversified client base included both private and public sector clients. Industry representation included insurance, manufacturing and financial institutions.
